Material

Rhodoïd cellulose acetate is a sheet material produced in Italy from cotton. The dyed cotton is pressed into blocks in selected colour combinations and then cut into individual discs. These discs are then transformed into enchanting hair ornaments and accessories through a labour-intensive process. This narrow Alice band is crafted with fine rows of teeth. These have softly rounded tips, which ensure the Alice band sits securely without exerting unnecessary pressure on the scalp or causing any irritation. Here at Wien, it is a matter close to our hearts to stock products that are not only stylish but also sustainable and long-lasting. That is why, in the manufacture of our Alice bands, we have relied exclusively on high-quality materials and clean production processes. The result is a product that is both durable and comfortable to wear.

Tip

Our Alice bands are designed so that they can always be adjusted to the shape of your head for a comfortable fit all round. To do this, briefly place the Alice band in hot water or blow-dry it. Whilst it is still warm, you can then carefully mould it into the desired shape. Similarly, the teeth of the Alice band, which provide the necessary hold, can be easily filed down to the desired size and adjusted to suit your needs. A comfortable and reliable fit for both short and long hair.

Packaging and dispatch

When packaging our items, we strive to strike a reliable balance between transport safety and sustainability. We therefore use only recycled paper, cardboard boxes, eco-friendly packing tape and cotton bags made from naturally renewable raw materials. Each item is carefully wrapped in a cotton bag, tissue paper or kraft paper, then securely packed into a cardboard box and prepared for dispatch.

For us, Fair Trade isn’t just an added bonus – it’s a given! That’s why we’ve chosen to work with suitable companies in Europe rather than opting for cheaper manufacturing in Asia or Eastern Europe. It’s essential to us that our products are manufactured under decent working conditions, from the sourcing of raw materials right through to the finished product. Geographical proximity allows us to gain a more detailed insight into the individual stages of production and significantly reduces transport distances, enabling us to make a huge contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and protecting the environment. Our Alice bands and their packaging are made largely from biodegradable raw materials sourced from sustainable agriculture. By manufacturing in Germany, France, Austria and Portugal, we can fully guarantee compliance with EU environmental standards, unlike products manufactured in Asia.
